Matthew Principe is one of the rare multi-disciplinary creatives who moves candidly between classical music performance and pop culture—on stage and on screen —shaping conversations that affect change in both industries.
He is the founder of Principe Dynamics, a cultural platform exploring the intersections of arts, storytelling, and strategy in the 21st century. By bridging opera, performance, and philanthropy, Principe Dynamics challenges outdated perceptions of elitism and sparks dialogue between artists, institutions, and audiences. Shortlisted for the 2025 Global Arts Prize Legacy Award, the platform’s upcoming podcast, OpCulture, dives into opera’s influence on today’s pop culture— from Marvel’s Valkyries to Beyoncé’s 18th-century arias.
Matthew holds an MBA from the Global Leaders Institute for Arts innovation and is a Recording Academy member. His recent projects include producing world premiere recordings of Harry Burleigh songs for Lexicon Classics; on-site producing an orchestral recording of Salome; developing Kindred, a new opera by Grammy-winner Billy Childs for the Apollo Theater; and producing Tamar-kali and Carl Hancock Rux’s The Swann for a residency at the Kennedy Center.
Previously, Matthew led groundbreaking digital storytelling at Detroit Opera, revitalized global broadcasts for Boston Baroque in partnership with GBH and IDAGIO, and produced the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning Live in HD series.
A dedicated advocate for equity and queer voices in the arts, Matthew continues to redefine how centuries-old traditions engage modern audiences, advancing stories that celebrate freedom of expression and culture’s evolving role in society.
